Pink bus service for women launched in Mardan and Abbottabad
The agreement between of Japan’s UNOPS and the Transport & Mass Transit Department Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa signed in 2016 has finally been fulfilled.
A total of 14 busses have reached Peshawar for the exclusive pink bus service for women. The bus service was also inaugurated today.
Out of 14 pink busses, 7 will operate in Mardan while the remaining 7 will serve the women of Abbottabad. The pink busses can only be used by women and children under the age of 12 in the two cities.
The buses are manufactured and distributed in Pakistan by Mitsubishi Japan.
The pink buses are well equipped with all the modern features one can expect in a city bus. They are equipped with automatic doors, air conditioning, and comfortable seats.
Each bus has a capacity of 40 seats but passengers can also stand in the bus as they travel.
Additional security and safety measures have also been provided within the bus. There are also first aid kits available within the busses for emergency as well as special bus controls have been added to the driver’s seat for safety measures.
